EJNCP is an ensemble dedicated to performing interdisciplinary conceptual programmes, featuring anything from early music to modern classical music repertoire performed with informed interpretations. The group therefore performs on a variety of period and ethnic instruments in addition to the more conventional classical instruments. For this same reason the instrumentation and size of the ensemble varies to suit the concept, resulting in a great diversity in musicians from one project to the next.
The EJNCP collaborators hail from all walks of life, but they all have extensive professional training in their own field. Most of the musicians are multi instrumentalists, and projects are devised in such a way as to take each musician from their comfort zone regarding musical performance. This makes for exciting programs featuring a great variety of sound tapestries, and also allows for conceptual diversity in projects. The ensemble is run by the curator and musical director, Jan-Hendrik Harley.
EJNCP perform a wide variety of music in a great number of styles. Recent concerts include original film music, original serious classical music and arrangements of popular music in a Baroque style. The ensemble often play reimagined works of both contemporary and classical masters, all within the confines of what is needed for the musical narrative of the project.
If you have an interdisciplinary project that needs musical direction and/or an ensemble to perform, please fill out the form and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
